How we work

The Resident Coordinator System (RCS) encompasses all organizations of the UN system dealing with operational activities for development, regardless of their formal presence in the country. The UN Resident Coordinator System is in place for the promotion of a more united UN presence at the country level. The Resident Coordinator is the designated representative of the Secretary-General and the leader of the UN Country Team.

The World Bank, IMF and other international organizations are encouraged to be closely associated with the RCS. The Resident Coordinator System is administered by the UNDP.
